WILL YOUNG

Will Young has spent over two decades at the forefront of British pop since winning the inaugural series of Pop Idol in 2002. His debut single Anything Is Possible / Evergreen sold over 1.7 million copies, making it the second best-selling single of the 21st century in the UK to date and one of the Top 20 best-selling singles of all time. His career has since included four #1 and two #2 chart-topping albums, two BRIT Awards, and hits such as Leave Right Now, Jealousy and Evergreen. His most recent album Light It Up debuted Top 5 in the UK charts in 2024, followed by a sold-out UK acoustic tour.

Alongside music, Will has built a successful career in acting and presenting, including stage and screen roles, and regular slots on Magic and BBC Radio 2. He was nominated for an Olivier Award for Cabaret and continues to balance creative projects across entertainment and broadcasting.

A Sunday Times bestselling author, his books To Be a Gay Man and Be Yourself and Happier: The A–Z of Wellbeing have cemented his role as a leading voice on mental health and LGBTQ+ issues. His platform The Wellbeing Lab brings accessible conversations about mental health to social media, through videos, quotes, and reflections on topics ranging from anxiety to resilience.

A lifelong activist, Will is a passionate campaigner for animal welfare and rights. He has taken direct action to protest against animal testing and puppy farming, co-founded the dog food company Miraculous Meals (donating 50% of profits to rescue centres), and became the first-ever Ambassador for Hope Rescue. He is also the first Patron of Shout, the UK’s 24/7 text support service, and founded Wellstock and the For One Night Only event series, raising vital funds for mental health charities.

Will is also an in-demand public speaker, appearing at JP Morgan’s Blue Monday Fireside Chats to discuss mental health and at the Leeds International Festival of Ideas to speak on grief. In 2023 he was awarded an honorary degree from the University of Exeter, where he originally studied politics.

More recently, Will has shared his passion for gardening with fans through his popular “Gardener’s Diary” series on social media, which has already amassed over 5.6 million views, and presented a film for BBC’s The One Show on the RHS’s project to create a national library of flowers.
