alison goldfrapp
Alison Goldfrapp began her musical career performing with dance company Catherine Massin in the Netherlands during her early twenties before studying Fine Art at Middlesex University, where she created live performance pieces that fused music, visuals and theatre. This multidisciplinary background shaped her singular artistic voice.
In 1999, Alison met Will Gregory and together they formed Goldfrapp, signing to Mute Records and releasing their acclaimed debut album Felt Mountain. Across seven studio albums, the multi-platinum selling duo scored global hits including Strict Machine, Ooh La La, Lovely Head and A&E. Renowned for their electrifying live shows, Goldfrapp won two Ivor Novello Awards - including the Inspiration Award for their lasting musical influence in 2021 - as well as ASCAP/PRS, Music Week, MTV Europe and Music Producers Guild honours. They were nominated for two Brit Awards and a Mercury Prize, produced three US Dance #1 singles, and expanded their reach into film and theatre with soundtrack work (My Summer of Love, Nowhere Boy), the cinema-broadcast Tales of Us project, and a score for the National Theatre’s Medea (2015). Alison also curated her own Performer As Curator exhibit at the Lowry Museum in Salford, photographed the visuals for Goldfrapp’s Silver Eye album, and directed the videos for Everything Is Never Enough and Systemagic.
Stepping into her solo journey, Alison released her debut album The Love Invention in 2023 - a dazzling showcase of her matured musicianship and fearless exploration of dance-pop. Two years later she returned with Flux, the first album on her own label A.G. Records, created in collaboration with Richard X and Stefan Storm (Sound of Arrows). Flux was widely acclaimed and stormed the charts: #1 on the UK Dance Album Chart, #2 on the Independent and Cassette Album Charts, Top 5 across Physical, Scottish and CD Album Charts, and Top 10 on both the Vinyl and Download Album Charts.
Alison’s live performances remain as magnetic as ever. She has delivered unforgettable solo sets at Glastonbury, Primavera Sound, Somerset House Summer Series, Mighty Hoopla and a sold-out 2024 UK headline tour. In 2025 she joined Scissor Sisters as a very special guest on their 20th Anniversary UK arena tour, reaffirming her reputation as one of pop’s most hypnotic performers.
With a career spanning two decades of boundary-pushing creativity, Alison Goldfrapp continues to stand at the vanguard of electronic pop - a visionary artist whose individuality has been embraced by both the mainstream and the avant-garde.
